American stereotypes

In the last post (Cultural reflection: Food and People) I told what I thought about the people here in the USA. I told what the people in my country said to me about the American people and I thought they were right. I thought the American people were not sociable. And I said too that it was not true. Was the opposite. So now I know that they are good people and like to make new friend.
I was always good and quick to make new friends and I was worried about if I would have some friends here. Especially American friends. Then I got here and to my surprise my roommate barely spoke to me. I didn’t know the reason. And I was upset, sad and worried at the same time. But I could not do anything. Time was passing and now we are not best friends but she is nice. And now we talk to each other. =D
I live here in the UNCG. In the Residence Hall and is not difficult see a lot of American students here. Now I have some friends here and we talk almost every day. Is good for me because I talk English more and more. They call me to dinner, go to the church and go to parties. They like me and I like them. Is good. I hope in the future we can be good friends. Lately I've been out with Arabs and Chinese. They are not Americans but are as good as or maybe better. With them I have several funny stories but I tell you in another opportunity. =D
Other thing I thought about Americans that they were very polluted environment. And this is true. I don’t know if this thing is American’s fault. Things here are all packed too. It is very plastic being used in things. It's a lot of garbage produced every day that could be avoided. I see here that people do not have the habit of filling the water bottle when they finish drinking. They simply throw away and buy another. O.o I think it very sad. L People should be more aware of how to preserve the environment. In my opinion small things that make big difference.
I think that is it what I thought about Americans. I can be wrong. But is just my opinion.
